It's more than adequate as an economy motel is concerned. Not many amenities, but it has clean linens. Could use some minor renovations.

Rooms was pretty clean and ok for what it was. No real complaints. But I will say I LOVED the mattress! Not sure if it was only the room I was in with that super soft fluffy like foam mattress but OMG!
American Inn has two important things going for it : it's cheap and clean. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and the interior is, shall we say, dated bit it has Wi-Fi and HBO. A mini-fridge and microwave add to the ambience. Overall you can't beat it for the price
You get what you pay for. We stayed here in a weekly basis for a few weeks while we were in between rentals. The staff doesn't bother you. They are flexible when it comes to paying for your room. They won't kick you out at checkout as long as you say you can pay later that day. It is relatively quiet and everyone is nice. Most people here are staying weekly like we are.
It's not a fancy, continental breakfast kinda place, but the prices are reasonable, the rooms are very clean, the staff is courteous and professional, and it's very quiet. Also, you're minutes from downtown Columbia and the airport. There are many restaurants and businesses nearby, including Walmart and kMary. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean place to stay regardless of what you may be in the Columbia area for. I'd stay there again any time.
